Kindergarten

For 130 years, St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Schools provided the most recognized academic program in Petaluma. For young students, the path to success in high school, college and beyond begins in the primary grades. At St. Vincent’s we recognize the importance of balancing academic standards with the developmental stages of the child. Through hands-on exploration and activities, small group instruction, and partnership with parents, our primary students begin building the foundation to become lifelong learners, responsible citizens and effective communicators.

For 12 years, St. Vincent de Paul Elementary Kindergarten has offered a full day program, educating the whole child --- personally, socially, academically and spiritually, in a safe, nurturing environment. With exceptional teachers, high expectations, and enrichment opportunities, the program offers a unique experience located in our historic, original St. Vincent’s Academy Building.

We feature small class sizes, but enjoy opportunities to join with the student body across our school community. Our students leave kindergarten reading, writing sentences, thinking critically and solving problems. Students learn how to listen attentively, actively participate, collaborate with peers, and become organized for success throughout their education.

1st And 2nd Grade

We offer a strong curriculum in reading, writing, math and science with standards above and beyond common core. Our program offers enrichment in technology, PE, art, music, and library. We are proud that our graduates, many of whom started their St. Vincent’s journey in 1st grade or 2nd grade, are currently attending leading colleges and universities such as UCLA, Harvard, Reed College, USC, Johns Hopkins, UC Berkeley, Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and many other notable academic institutions.

We encourage our students to be kind and helpful, to listen, actively participate, stay on task, and write clearly and correctly. Students learn about their community and world around them, collaborating on community service projects. Your child will be a part of an engaging environment that includes:

  • Small group instruction in English Language Arts
  • Character development through our Virtues Program
  • Technology instruction in the “Mac Lab”
  • STEM projects incorporated into the curriculum
  • Accelerated Reader Program
